About DISCOVER GRAVEL LLC
Discover Gravel LLC History
Discover Gravel LLC was created in November 2020 by Bobby Thompson. DG's first gravel event, Flint Hills Gravel, was also developed that same year. The first edition of FHG was held on April 10th of 2021. DG's second event, Rock Ridge Gravel, was created in November of 2021. The first edition of RRG was held the weekend of July 8-9 of 2022. DG's third event was created in 2022 and held in late October of 2022. A fundraising MTB Race for our Local NICA Team, the Coyote Composites. The event is Tricks N Trails. Never resting the concept was being finailzed for a 1000 mile bikepacking tour of the amazing Flint Hills. The Flint Hills Ultra sprang to life Memorial Day weekend of 2023!! In 2024 DG is proud to announce the Great Plains Gravel Cup. GPGC is a gravel points series featuring 6 established area events and producing a cumulative pts race series!

Why Discover Gravel?
BobbyT - Discover Gravel LLC was created with the intent of spreading the love of gravel. Riding bikes has given me so much. Friendships, health, confidence, life long memories and amazing vacations. I wanted events reflecting my idea of "gravel". Gravel is what we have to ride on here in Emporia, KS. I grew up driving backroads. I appreciate the beauty you can only see when you slow down and absorb the countryside around you. Gravel is simply an accepted term that's come to embody ALL those backroads. Rough rock, fine rock, packed dirt, washed out rutted ranch roads, grass field access roads...even broken pavement...they are all types of backroads. They are all my "gravel".
I am pleased to welcome in 2025 2 partners to Discover Gravel, Lea and Josh Hamlin of Americus, KS. Lea and Josh are believers of small town pride, backyard beauty and have been with Flint Hills Gravel since day one! I am super stoked to have them around the entire DG family of events in 2025!
